Matt Hancock is 'throwing everything at a Covid-19 vaccine' and will begin human trials this week

Health Secretary, Matt Hancock, confirms an Oxford University vaccine development team will begin human trials on Thursday.

There is no certainty it will work, he adds. But he has told developers he “will back them to the hilt” and that the upside of being the first country in the world to develop a coronavirus vaccine is huge.

The government is making £20m available to the Oxford team to accelerate their trials.
